Yackandandah Charity Bash
2010
What? A single day’s trail ride in the Mt Big Ben state forest, open to licensed riders on registered motorcycles. Recreational Registration is fine. Limited to 150 entries for 2010.
When? Saturday 7th August. Aim to arrive at staging area by 9 a.m.
We aim to finish riding around 3 p.m.
Cost? $100.00 per person.
How? Two arrowed loops, one prior to lunch, one after. You can do as many loops as you can fit in during either period. Riders will be sent off in small groups at intervals. Every rider must break for lunch prior to commencement of the afternoon loop.
Trails are considered of excellent quality, with a mixture of flowing, undulating open trails, with loam, leaf litter, grass or rocks underfoot. Some tighter single trail is included. No trails are extremely difficult.
A barbecue lunch is provided.
Why? To enjoy ourselves in the name of charity.
All proceeds to the Yackandandah Primary School.
Where? Mt Big Ben state forest. It’s halfway between Yackandandah and Dederang. Access will be off the Yackandandah – Myrtleford Rd, which of course will be signed. It’s about five minutes from Yackandandah towards Myrtleford. Landholders who have agreed to us using their property have asked that the utmost respect be given to their lands. Drive very slowly and tread lightly. Try to leave no signs at all of your entry and exit and we’ll be welcome in years to come.
What else? You need to bring your licence and proof of Rego. We’ll take both from you and hold them until the end of the event. Insurance cover is provided by Honda and an indemnity must be completed before riding. Don’t forget your wet weather gear! Some of the trails are above 1000m and it can get bloody cold if it’s wet.
Fitting new tyres would be a real good idea as well, just ask some of the guys who struggled on a couple of the hills last year. The DSE will be conducting some noise testing so if you think your bike is a bit loud, you might want to do something about it, last year the guys from the DSE had a few bikes they tested were a bit loud ( most of which were XR400’s with standard exhaust’s that the baffles had fallen out ). There will be a number of guides/sweep riders on the day and a back up 4WD in the event of problems. Guides will wear reflective vests. If you have a problem on the trail that you can’t fix, seek assistance from another rider or a guide. At the end of the day, riders are invited to join the organizing crew inYackandandah at a venue to be confirmed. There, you might pick up a bargain at our auction and free photos of the day’s riding will be available. There may also be some bench racing.
