If it was for dirt bike riding mainly I think you should run the Bridgestone. But it also depends on the type of surface your riding on. If its harder surface like probanly the M603/M604 front/back combo would be the go. Or if the surface was softer run M203/M204s. If you were using your bike for dual offroad and onroad purpose a bridgestone TW301/TW302 would be the best. Anyway the bottom line is Bridgestone is the way to go :)

Just a further update.

I am too lazy to change the front tyre, so it hasn't been done yet. I'll probably wait until it looses grip, washes out on me & I snap my wrist.

As to the rear, it is still the 952. With 8psi in it, there is no loss of control that is not caused by me.
It grips well enough & is wearing very well.
At this point in time, it will stay there until it wears out a bit more.

Thanks for all your ideas.

Got to love Google... I was going to post a thread to get an opinion or 12 about the new back tyre I'm going to run in the next few weeks and found it mentioned in our posts.

I've nearly killed the ED06 Gritty rear and want a good chunky new rubber for North Star so I'm looking at a Bridgstone M604.

Well further to this I am giving the new Dunlop Geomax MX31's a try. Front and rear and have been pleased so far.
They certainly assisted during the RLR and kicking Big Red in the arse the following week.

I'm looking at the 604 because we have quite hard and rocky ground around here and I figured the hard compound tyre should hold up ok. Considering how worn the Gritty was on the weekend I thank my Mojo for keeping my bike upright...

The Geomax also comes in a 51 and I think 71 (The higher the number the harder the comound).
I think Willy said he is running the 71 for the rocky conditions he rides normally.

The Geomax MX31 features Dunlop’s new patented “chiseled” shoulder block shape. A taper in the block creates a smaller point on top that allows the knob to penetrate through the ground’s soft surface layer and grab the firmer ground beneath. By burrowing into firmer substrate, the knobs gain traction instead of floating on the surface.
Limited block surface creates a more open pattern for enhanced penetration in soft dirt/sand to contact harder ground for increased traction.
Chiseled shoulder block shape improves side traction and makes traversing ruts easier. This tapered shape facilitates knob penetration through soft surfaces, whereas a flat knob would ”float” and/or be deflected. Instead, the tapered knob penetrates into the firmer underlying ground to give the tire more bite for more traction.
Recess design in the area between tread blocks gives the tire improved compliance for enhanced ride comfort.
Knobs are placed in a unique linked shoulder block design for better traction and grip in soft-to-intermediate riding conditions.

New profile design with more tread volume (greater land/sea ratio) in the shoulders for excellent cornering grip and a more open center-tread area for straight-line grip.
Recessed biting edges in shoulder tread blocks yield more traction for greater grip, especially in corners and ruts, throughout a wide range of terrain conditions.

Tie-bar design connects and reinforces the tread blocks for greater tread stiffness, yielding improved intermediate-to-hard terrain performance.

Enhanced land/sea ratio and wider tread profile for improved traction.
Larger-radius tread block base for strength and increased durability.
Used by top pro riders for the 2008 Supercross and Motocross Nationals.

New profile design with more tread volume (greater land/sea ratio) in the shoulders for excellent cornering grip.
Directional front tire pattern for enhanced grip and cornering traction in hard-pack conditions.
Directional and asymmetric rear tire pattern plus “Double TornadoWave” rear tire block distribution for optimum traction and braking ability.
Unique placement of “camber traction blocks” for optimum lean-angle traction and grip when exiting corners.
Dunlop Geomax Reinforced Pattern (GRP) design for enhanced wear and resistance to tread block tearing.
Variable spacing between center tread blocks for enhanced performance.
Recessed biting edges yield enhanced traction for greater grip throughout a wide range of terrain conditions.
Available second quarter of 2010.

I was going to ask "did you use a rubber?" but that is probably pointless.

I put a Geomax on Brett's CRF150R.
Seems to work well.

I might try one on the WR next time I need a tire.
